6 Ways to Prepare Your Child for School

If you’ve got a little one then you know the joys of getting them prepared for the few years they have before school. It can be a nervous time for you and your kid with the anxiety of the thought of school coming up. Here are five ways to ease you and your child’s few years before they start school and ensure that they do amazing when they do.

1. Teaching them basic principles of life
Kids are never too young when it comes to learning. Whether you’re 3 or 30, learning never stops, so why not start them young? Teach your kids what you had wished you had learned at their age and guide them to become the better version of you.

2. Discovering their hobbies
As humans, we often have trouble discovering what we enjoy doing and especially at such a young age, it can be difficult without a little guidance. Try enrolling them in a sport you think they might like or a dance class they might enjoy. They’ll never fully know unless you give them a chance to try it out. This won’t only give them something fun to do on the weekends, but also will give them a sense of self-awareness.

3. Enroll them in daycare or have play dates
Not only will you catch a break but this will help teach them how to cope and play well with others. On top of that, it is an excellent way for them to make new friends and learn new things.

4. Reading to them before bed
Sounds like a given, however, it is often forgotten that reading to them not only helps them fall asleep quicker but teaches them basic reading and writing skills in a fun and interactive way. Once in a while you could even get creative and pick out a few learning books on math, colors, etc. Maybe even quiz them on the book after you’ve read it to them. That is if they aren’t asleep by then.

5. Buying them innovative games
A fun way for them to learn their shapes and colors without your constant help and attention. This comes in handy during the times you may want to just lay on the couch and watch a movie while they do their own thing on the carpet with all their innovative toys.

6. Teaching them basic rules
This sounds like another obvious one however if you have a child, you know just how hard it can be sometimes to teach them new rules. They might need to hear it a few times before they can fully grasp it or listen to you and that can be frustrating.
