Why empathy and sharing emotions is important in raising healthy children

With the world shifting towards a technology-heavy world our children are distancing themselves from face to face contact and turning to screen to screen...

While there are many benefits to technology making it easy for us to connect digitally but, it is taking away the emotional connection we need to develop empathy with others. The ability to see things from other people’s point of view is imperative to developing kids into healthy adults. Kids who develop empathy at an early age are less likely to bully others and will build stronger relationships with other people which in turn makes them happy and mentally stable individuals. People with this ability excel in most leadership positions.

There are many great ways to teach empathy to your children. We find that a good starting point is to get your kids to identify and manage what they feel emotional. When they have a good grasp at identifying their own emotions, it makes it easier for them to step into other’s shoes and see things in their perspective. We also recommend letting them take care of pets because this teaches them to care for another living being at an early age.

As parents, it is our job to prepare our kids for what life might throw at them. We believe a great starting point is to help them to see the world from other people’s perspective and that it's ok to express how you really feel.
